NHS Covid-19 postcode checker lets you see cases within one mile of your front door

The NHS has created a Coronavirus postcode checker that shows how many positive Covid-19 tests have been recorded within a mile of your front door.

The tool invites people to input their own postcode and set the radius for the information they would like.

This can be set as near as one mile and as distant as ten miles.

It shows the user details of the number of cases recorded in each neighbourhood in the last seven days.

The data comes from Public Health England and shows the historic number of weekly cases to provide context to the current nature of the pandemic in your neighbourhood.

An infection rate per 100,000 people in the last seven days is also provided to allow a fairer comparison between areas of different population sizes.

Data is suppressed by the dashboard if any neighbourhoods have recorded three or fewer positive Coronavirus tests. To view the NHS postcode checker, click here.

The neighbourhoods listed in the NHS dashboard are Middle Layer Super Output Areas (MSOA). These split the country into smaller areas to allow localities to be compared. The average size of each MSOA is 7,200 people.
