NHS confirm Covid-19 cases linked to three Lanarkshire primary schools

A further three Lanarkshire primary schools have confirmed positive coronavirus cases over the weekend.

Parents and carers at Craigbank Primary in Larkhall, Knowetop Primary in Motherwell and Milton Primary in Lesmahagow each received letters confirming someone at their school had tested positive for Covid-19.

Letters from NHS Lanarkshire were issued on Saturday and Sunday to parents and carers stating that the individuals from all three schools were self-isolating at home.

NHS Lanarkshire is currently working with both authorities with regards to the cases and are contacting close contacts.

The letters all stated: “Noting the increased infection rates in Lanarkshire, it is important to bear in mind that mixing socially in the community without maintaining physical distancing measures helps the virus to spread widely.

“It is therefore important that people remain vigilant and follow physical distancing guidance.

“Pupils and staff should wash hands thoroughly and regularly use soap and water for 20 seconds.”

All three schools will remain open.
