NHS announce West Lothian’s vaccination programme is on to the next age group

West Lothian’s vaccination programme is moving onto the next age group.

NHS Lothian announced that they are working through their programme as fast as supplies allow.

From Monday March 15 they began to vaccinate group seven, which is patients over aged 60 and over.

The health board say that they understand people are very keen to get inoculated but ask that they wait until they are contacted about appointments.

They say that when residents are contacted all the relevant information, and opportunity to change appointments, will be on the letter.

An NHS Lothian spokesperson said: “Appointment letters are being distributed by a central system to patients across Scotland. We understand there has been a delay in sending out some appointment letters this week (March 12).

“This should be resolved very quickly and the letters are expected to arrive by this weekend. However, if you are over 60 and have not received an appointment letter by Monday (March 15), please call the national helpline on 0800 030 8013.

“Most people will be asked to attend a mass vaccination clinic. While there will be a small number of community-based clinics, these are mainly reserved for those with complex medical needs who cannot travel far from home. Details on how to alter your appointment call be found on your appointment letter.

“Please accept the first appointment you are offered if you possibly can, and please do everything you can to keep your appointment.”

Separate arrangements to vaccinate people at home are being made for those who are housebound, because they have dementia, very complex needs or a condition that makes outings very difficult.
