NHRC Member Jyotika Kalra

New Delhi: National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Member Jyotika Kalra visits to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital along with her team members OP Vyas, AR (Law), NHRC and Dr Manish, Safdarjung hospital amidst allegations of denial of admissions to COVID patient.

Yesterday, the Commission had issued notices to the Delhi Government  and Union Health Ministry on a complaint making serious allegations about the difficulties being faced by the general public in the city due to non-availability of beds in the hospitals for the COVID-19 patients and inadequate number of tests leading to a grim state of affairs and mismanagement resulting in death of a large number of people.

Former Delhi Congress Chief Ajay Maken had approached the NHRC over the issue. Issuing the notices, the Commission added that it would appreciate if both Delhi Government and Union Health Ministry consider the matter in consultation with each other to ensure a comprehensive report within ten days.

In the meantime, Delhi Government is expected to increase the number of beds and tests per day, for the COVID patients.
