NHC sees Hurricane Helene weakening to storm in eastern Atlantic Thursday

(Reuters) - Hurricane Helene is expected to weaken to a tropical storm over the cooler waters of the eastern Atlantic on Thursday, the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) said.

Helene is about 725 miles (1,170 km) west of the Cape Verde Islands, with maximum sustained winds of 105 miles per hour (165 km/h), the Miami-based weather forecaster said on Tuesday.
