NHC sees 90 percent chance of cyclone in Gulf of Mexico

(Reuters) - A system associated with the remnants of former tropical storm Harvey, located over the Yucatan Peninsula, has a 90 percent chance of developing into a cyclone over the next two days, the National Hurricane Center said on Tuesday.

Environmental conditions are conducive for development when the system moves over the Bay of Campeche Tuesday night, the NHC said.

"A tropical depression is expected to form over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico on Wednesday or Thursday and move in the general direction of the Texas coast on Friday."
