Tropical Storm Iota formed in the central Caribbean Sea on Friday and is forecast to be a major hurricane when it approaches Central America, the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) said.
The storm is located about 335 miles (540 km) south-southeast of Kingston, Jamaica, packing maximum sustained winds of 40 miles (65 km) per hour.
