NFLPA warns players against holding private group workouts

It’s been neat to see NFL players working out with teammates or peers on their own, trying to stay sharp and get ready for the 2020 season during the coronavirus pandemic. But that practice might have just hit a screeching halt.

With several players across multiple teams, including Cowboys star RB Ezekiel Elliott and Broncos DB Kareem Jackson, testing positive in recent days, the NFLPA is advising players to stop working out together.

NFLPA Medical Director Dr. Thomas Mayer issued a stern warning that was sent to all players individually, as well as distributed via social media.

Major spikes in positive tests at numerous prominent college programs, including Clemson, Texas and UCLA, also cast some doubt on a quick return to normalcy during the COVID-19 pandemic.
