NFLPA approves the CBA proposal via a close vote

The sports world might be paused temporarily, but the NFL will not have to pause for labor unrest anytime soon. NFL players voted to approve the latest collective bargaining agreement proposal from the owners.

Voting took place throughout the week and ended on Saturday evening. A simple majority of NFLPA members needed to say yes to approve the wide-ranging proposal. And it was a close vote, according to a press release by the NFLPA leadership:

Among the changes that fans will notice as a result of the new CBA:

  • 17-game regular season (logistics on that are still up in the air)
  • Two extra playoffs teams, one in each conference
  • Player’s share of revenue increasing, which means a higher salary cap
