NFL writer calls Teddy Bridgewater most underrated QB on the market

NFL free agency is set to officially begin on Wednesday, as a new league year starts at 4:00 p.m. ET after two days of legal tampering.

While a number of players have already agreed to terms on deals with new teams, Miami Dolphins quarterback Teddy Bridgewater remains unsigned. Interestingly enough, ESPN’s Seth Walder wrote a piece last week breaking down the most overrated and underrated players at each position on the market.

For quarterback, Bridgewater was listed as the most underrated.

Here’s what Walder wrote about former Louisville signal-caller:

“Everyone looking for a fringe starter wants Jacoby Brissett — and rightfully so, as I’d pick him first among the fringe starter group, too. But Bridgewater is not that far behind. His 2022 performance wasn’t great (47.5 QBR in five games with Dolphins), but I think it would be a mistake to overemphasize the 95 action plays he had this past season, particularly because he’s only 30. If we look at the past three seasons, Bridgewater’s QBR is 54.7, only slightly trailing Brissett’s 57.8.”

Despite having some of the best weapons in the NFL, Bridgewater struggled in 2022. He wasn’t the best fit for the offense and injuries limited him in action, leading to playing time for rookie Skylar Thompson.

Still, many believe Bridgewater can still come in and keep a team afloat, as he did with the New Orleans Saints back in 2019.
