NFL writer believes Titans QB Marcus Mariota needs ‘change of scenery’

There has been plenty of talk surrounding Tennessee Titans quarterback ahead of the 2019 season.

The need to stay healthy and what the addition of former Miami Dolphins signal-caller Ryan Tannehill have been among the hottest topics.

But there’s a new idea to add to that stack now.

NFL writer for the Talk of Fame Network, Clark Judge, seems to believe Mariota needs a change of scenery and a fresh start with a new team to find success.

“I think he needs a change of scenery,” he said. “When he came in, I thought, ‘This guy is going to be a star.’ I’ve been disappointed with him after this great start because he’s been hurt… I do think having a turbulent situation with all these offensive coordinators is a problem…and he’s got to stay on the field.. there’s no consistency with his game… I think he needs to get out of there and get a fresh start somewhere.”

At this point, it’s difficult to get behind Judge’s perspective.

General manager Jon Robinson has put all the pieces in place for his quarterback ahead of the final year of his rookie contract, making key additions to offensive line and receiving corps in free agency and the 2019 NFL Draft.

The team has also valued continuity by promoting former tight ends coach Arthur Smith to offensive coordinator, so there won’t be a great deal of differences in the scheme or terminology as Mariota prepares for the upcoming season.

While starting with a clean slate may sound logical to some, we’re going to have to see how the quarterback fares this year before making any judgement on a need for new scenery.
