The Chicago Bears family lost a valuable member with the passing of ESPN reporter Jeff Dickerson, who died from colon cancer at 44. It’s a loss that’s impacted many across the NFL, from Dickerson’s colleagues to family to the team itself.
Bears head coach Matt Nagy opened his Wednesday press conference by sharing his thoughts and prayers for Dickerson’s family, including his 11-year-old son Parker, and friends. He even got choked up at the mention of Parker.
A GoFundMe has been set up to support Parker, who’s now lost both of his parents due to cancer. And the response has been extraordinary.
As of Thursday afternoon, there has been close to a million dollars raised. That includes donations from the Bears, Washington Football, Colts, Eagles, 49ers, Ravens, Rams, Texans and Blackhawks, as well as Andy Dalton, Tom Ricketts, Anthony Rizzo and countless others.

The Green Bay Packers organization even donated $25,000 to the fund, which is an unbelievably classy move by the Bears’ rivals. It goes to show that there are things more important than football or a rivalry.
