NFL Week 7: 11 bold predictions

Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports

And here we are at 7-Eleven: That’s NFL Week 7 with another 11 bold predictions. Pull up a Slurpee and enjoy these delicious prognostications.

Ezekiel Elliott will struggle against Philly

The Cowboys are banged up. Amari Cooper (thigh bruise), Randall Cobb (back), left tackle Tyron Smith (ankle), right tackle La’el Collins (knee), corner Byron Jones (hamstring) and corner Anthony Brown (hamstring) are all hurting. The Eagles come to Texas and it is incumbent upon Ezekiel Elliott to have a big game or Doug Pederson’s prediction of a victory will come true. However, the Eagles are allowing less than 75 yards per game and this is not the week to bust out.

Kyler Murray will outplay Daniel Jones

In a battle of first-round draft picks, the road game won’t matter to Heisman winner Kyler Murray as he leads the Arizona Cardinals to victory over Daniel Jones and the New York Giants. Kliff Kingsbury and the Cardinals will be an improbable 3-3-1 after seven games.

Jalen Ramsey won’t have any picks

Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

The Rams shuffled the deck with three trades this week. The prize was landing DB Jalen Ramsey from Jacksonville. They will need him against pass-happy Atlanta. Matt Ryan is smart enough to look the other way and that will keep Ramsey from stealing any of his passes.

The Bengals will break the ice

Gardner Minshew II came back to earth against the tough New Orleans Saints. The Bengals have quietly been close in their last two games. The time feels perfect to give Zac Taylor his first victory as head coach. Andy Dalton won’t mind not seeing Jalen Ramsey in the Jaguars’ secondary.

Russell Wilson will outplay Lamar Jackson

Scott R. Galvin-USA TODAY Sports

In a fantastic matchup, the Baltimore Ravens travel to Seattle to play the Seahawks. This brings together special quarterbacks in Lamar Jackson and Russell Wilson. The 12th man in Seattle will play a huge role in disrupting the second-year Baltimore QB and Wilson will put on a show for the home crowd.

Bill Callahan’s winning streak will end

The interim coach of Washington broke in with a victory over Miami. That is enough to build optimism … for a week. The undefeated 49ers come to town and will remind everyone of how far the Dolphins are from a competitive NFL squad. Expect Kyle Shanahan to add another victory to this exciting run.

The Raiders will menace the Packers

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

Green Bay is another team that is battling injuries as its wide receiver corps is decimated. The Pack is coming off a short week after having to scramble to beat the Lions at Lambeau. Oakland is coming off a bye, having downed Chicago in thrilling fashion in London. Expect this to be way closer than anyone anticipates.

The Chargers will ruin Ryan Tannehill

Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

There is a lack of offense in Tennessee and it has forced Mike Vrabel to make the unenviable decision to start Ryan Tannehill over Marcus Mariota. Unless magic happened, this is the same inconsistent veteran quarterback from the Dolphins. The Tennessee defense will have to be sturdy to keep its team in the game because the offense is going to struggle to tread water.

The Vikings will add to the Lions’ misery

Noah K. Murray-USA TODAY Sports

Minnesota is getting on a roll and heads to Detroit. The passing games is in gear and all it needs is for Kirk Cousins and Dalvin Cook to come up big on the same field. That should be Sunday as the Lions fail to rebound from their loss Monday at Green Bay.

Miami will not score on the Bills’ defense

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

The Dolphins somehow got 16 points Sunday. Oh, it was on previously winless Washington. Ryan Fitzpatrick suddenly is Miami’s starter, again, after Josh Rosen was given the job permanently for about a half. Fitzpatrick was once a Bill and will receive a hostile welcome as Buffalo stifles Miami’s offense.

This is one fantastic read

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

Deviating from the crystal ball for a second. Take plenty of time to read this story on DeAndre Hopkins of the Houston Texans and his mom. Keep the tissue box nearby. Wonderfully done.
