NFL Week 16 picks: Who the experts are taking in Eagles vs. Giants

The Giants visit the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field for an intriguing NFC East matchup on Monday, Dec. 25.

Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. ET on FOX, as Nick Sirianni’s group will look to snap a three-game losing streak while regaining some confidence against the struggling Giants.

Monday’s festive matchup is the Giants’ first-ever Christmas Day game and their 176th regular-season matchup against the Eagles. This is the first of two meetings in three weeks between the teams.

Philadelphia won regular-season matchups and an NFC divisional playoff game against the Giants last season (48-22 on Dec. 11, 22-16 on Jan. 8, and 38-7 in the playoffs on Jan. 21).

The Giants are 2-2 against NFC East opponents this season.

With final preparation for the matchup underway, here are the NFL expert picks.

Los Angeles Times: Eagles

Jan 21, 2023; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA; Philadelphia Eagles running back Kenneth Gainwell (14) runs against New York Giants safety Julian Love (20) and cornerback Darnay Holmes (30) in the fourth quarter during an NFC divisional round game at Lincoln Financial Field. The LA Times is picking Philadelphia.

A get-right game for the Eagles, who are coming off a painful loss at Seattle. Philadelphia establishes the run as that offensive line takes over, and that’s enough to control the game.

Prediction: Eagles 27, Giants 17

CBS Sports--Eagles

CBS Sports is picking the Eagles.

The 33rd Team --Eagles

The experts at The 33rd Team are picking Philadelphia at home.

The Philadelphia Eagles have now lost three in a row, but they finish out the year with three games against sub-.500 teams. Two of those games come against the New York Giants, who will have their hands full in this contest.

Philadelphia’s pass rush will have a trench advantage in this matchup, with a massive one in the interior. Tommy DeVito has thrown 160 passes over seven games, and he’s taken 35 sacks. If the Eagles play with a lead as they are projected to do, they could reach double-digit sacks in this contest.

In that scenario, Philadelphia could get back on track with a very decisive win.

Score Prediction: Eagles 30, Giants 13

Bleacher Report is picking the Eagles at home.

“The Giants don’t match up any better this year with the team that throttled them three times and ended their season a year ago. I can’t even hope for a backdoor cover. Lay these points down and watch Christmas Vacation instead.”

USA Today --Eagles

Brown (11) during the second quarter against the New York Giants during an NFC divisional round game at Lincoln Financial Field. Mandatory Credit: Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

The experts at USA Today are rolling with Philadelphia.

Jan 21, 2023; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA; New York Giants offensive tackle Andrew Thomas (78) against Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Josh Sweat (94) during an NFC divisional round game at Lincoln Financial Field. Mandatory Credit: Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

NFL.com is picking Philadelphia at home.

Tommy DeVito could rediscover his mojo against the NFL’s 28th-ranked passing defense, and the Giants (tied for ninth in the league with 22 takeaways) could coax a few key turnovers out of the Eagles (whose 21 giveaways are tied for 10th-most). New York would pretty much still need everything to go perfectly to pull off a win here. Philly, meanwhile, has the talent advantage to ensure plenty of room for error, meaning the three-game losing streak should end, even if some of the sloppiness of recent weeks continues.

The MMQB--Eagles

The experts at MMQB are picking the Eagles.
