NFL trade deadline: Mark Barron to Rams, Jonathan Casillas to Patriots

Oct. 28--The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made two trades at the NFL deadline Tuesday, sending safety Mark Barron to the St. Louis Rams and linebacker Jonathan Casillas to the New England Patriots, according to multiple reports.

For Barron, the seventh overall pick in the 2012 draft out of Alabama, Tampa Bay will receive St. Louis' fourth- and sixth-round picks in the 2015 draft.

Barron, 25, had started all seven games for the Buccaneers this season, collecting 49 tackles with one fumble recovery and three passes defensed. He's had just three career interceptions since joining the NFL.

Over four years at Alabama, Barron had 12 interceptions with 235 tackles and 34 passes defensed while helping win two Bowl Championship Series titles (2010, 2012), earning him first-round grades and ultimately a top 10 selection.

Tampa Bay will receive a fifth-round pick from New England in exchange for Casillas and a sixth-round draft choice.

Casillas, 27, appeared in five games -- starting in three -- for Tampa Bay this season, but has been dealing with a nagging hamstring injury. He's made just nine tackles.

The veteran linebacker played three years for the New Orleans Saints, with whom he won a Super Bowl in 2009, before signing with the Buccaneers as a free agent in 2013.

Casillas has been credited with 138 career tackles with three sacks and two fumble recoveries.
