NFL star Von Miller suffers horror injury in Thanksgiving game and is carted off field

Buffalo Bills linebacker Von Miller was carted off the field after suffering a horror injury against the Detroit Lions in their Thanksgiving clash.

Miller fell down after colliding with Lions centre Frank Ragnow, when attempting to sack Jared Goff towards the end of the first half. And Bills fans are now fearing the worst as he looked to be in a considerable amount of pain.

The 33-year-old has been a huge part of the Bills defence this season, after arriving from Los Angeles Rams. The defenceman has already completed eight sacks this season, and has been a huge member of the side that's tipped to go far in the play-offs.

The extent of his injury is unknown at this stage, but it could be a season changer for the Bills. Miller has played all of their games so far this season, and has been imperative in defence, helping them in their quest for success.

And of course, his experience is key, and he is a current Super Bowl Champion after starring for the Rams last season. The Bills have been rather vulnerable defensively in recent weeks, so they'll be hoping that Miller's injury is not as bad as first feared.

However, the way Miller fell down after contact from Ragnow does not look good, and fans are already speculating that it could be an ACL injury. The initial diagnosis has been given as a knee sprain, but Miller will go for an MRI scan on Friday, so until then the extent of his troubles are anyone's guess.

The Bills still managed to go into half-time ahead despite the big blow deep into the second quarter, as touchdowns from Josh Allen and Isaiah McKenzie put them 17-14 ahead. The Lions also scored two touchdowns, with Jamaal Williams and Amon-Ra St. Brown claiming points inside the end-zone.

The eight-time Pro-Bowler was only just recently discussing his happiness at the Bills, commenting about how good he's feeling in Buffalo. "I enjoy being here. I enjoy winning," Miller said.

"And that's what it's all about for me. I'm all about trying to get the most out of my teammates, trying to get them in a positive mindset, trying to uplift everybody and have everybody ready for Thursday or Sunday or whatever it may be."
