NFL, Seahawks issue statements on Jarran Reed’s suspension

Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman Jarran Reed has been suspended for the first six games of the 2019 NFL regular season for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.

Although not arrested or charged with a crime, the suspension is based on an incident which was alleged to have occurred in April of 2017, when Reed was accused of domestic assault by an adult female woman in the city of Bellevue.

Reed is eligible to return to the active roster on Monday, October 14 following the Seahawks’ matchup in Cleveland.

While suspended, Reed is allowed to participate in all preseason practices and games, including training camp, which begins July 24 for Seattle.

An NFL spokesman has issued the following statement:

The Seahawks followed up with a statement of their own, which reads:

“We are aware of the situation involving Jarran Reed and have followed league and law enforcement protocol since the alleged incident in April of 2017.”
