NFL’s salary cap expected to make yet another sizable jump

The NFL informed teams on Tuesday that the league projects the 2020 salary cap to fall in the range of $196.8 million to $201.2 million, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. That would mark a 40% increase from five years ago when the cap was $143.3 million in 2015.

The NFL is apparently experiencing a period of dramatic growth.

New England’s cap number is expected to be roughly $159 million for the 2020 offseason. That should afford them roughly $40 million in spending money for the offseason when they’ll have a fairly sizable free agency class, which includes Tom Brady, Joe Thuney, Devin McCourty, Jamie Collins, Kyle Van Noy and Matthew Slater, among others.
