FRISCO, Texas _ The NFL investigation into alleged domestic violence allegations against Dallas Cowboys running Ezekiel Elliott remains an open case, per league spokesman Brian McCarthy.
The Columbus (Ohio) City attorney's office declined to pursue charges against Elliott last month because of conflicting and inconsistent information, stemming from accusations from a former girlfriend.
The league recently interviewed Elliott as a part of its own investigation, according to a USA Today story. McCarthy would not confirm the interview.
"We do not comment on specifics of ongoing investigations," McCarthy said.
Elliott, the fourth overall pick, has done his best to put the matter behind him since the start of the season. He leads the NFL with 703 rushing and is the first rookie in NFL history to rush for 130 yards in four consecutive games.
His 703 yards rushing are the second most by a rookie in the NFL through the first six games, trailing only Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson.
Elliott is also on pace top Dickerson's rushing record of 1,808 yards in 1983.
