March 13--A rural Tennessee ranch property owned by NFL running back Peyton Hillis, most recently of the New York Giants, is currently offered for $2.6 million.
Found in Stantonville, Tenn., about two hours east of Memphis, the ranch includes an 8,000-square-foot main house, an eight-acre lake, 28,000 feet of creek frontage, a boat dock, agriculture fields and wooded areas on 1,120 acres.
The main residence, built in French Country style, is highlighted by cathedral-style ceilings, rough-hewn beams, alcoves and stone accents. Among features is a country kitchen, a telescope room and a great room with a stone fireplace and a sweeping limestone staircase. There are three bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms.
Outdoors, the pastoral setting contains a large entertainer's area, a stone gazebo, formal gardens and civil war relics. A concrete patio overlooks the lake, which is spring fed and has largemouth bass and other fish. Elsewhere is acreage devoted to a corn-soybean rotation and tree harvesting.
Hillis and his wife, Amanda, acquired the two-parcel property in separate transactions in 2012 and 2013 for a combined $2.57 million, public records show. Travis Higgins, a financial manager with UCI Wealth Advisors, is handling the sale.
The burly rusher, 29, has compiled 2,832 yards on the ground and 23 rushing touchdowns in seven seasons with the Broncos, Browns, Chiefs and Giants. Following a breakout season with Cleveland in 2010, in which he rushed for 1,177 yards, Hillis was voted as the cover player of EA Sports' "Madden NFL 12" video game. He is currently a free agent.
