NFL: Raiders WR Antonio Brown would be in breach of contract over helmet issue

The news just keeps getting worse for Raiders wide receiver Antonio Brown. After Browns filed a grievance last week over the NFL prohibiting him from wearing his old helmet, NFL PR man Brian McCarthy tweeted that a player can’t use equipment that isn’t approved or he will be in breach of his contract. Take a look at the full tweet:

Essentially, Brown will not get paid by the Raiders until he decides to wear an NFL-approved helmet. Brown is also not allowed to show up to practice with outdated equipment, and he and the Raiders can be fined for the violation.

As much as Brown wants to complain and argue against the rule, the NFL seems dug in on this issue to protect player safety. Brown now has two options: retire from the NFL, as he has vowed to do, or find a suitable helmet. Expect Brown to be on the field soon now that the league has given him this ultimatum.
