NFL Preseason Week 2: How to watch, listen, and stream Saints-Chargers

The New Orleans Saints will kick off their second preseason game on Sunday, this time on the road against the Los Angeles Chargers. The tilt will be nationally-broadcast on CBS, and kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. C.T.

Joint practices between the Saints and Chargers have been ongoing for several days; it’s the third consecutive year both squads have shared a practice field. The first day of practice was highly competitive and featured a number of highlight reel-worthy plays from both sides; the second practice was decidedly more low-key, with both teams agreeing to remove their shoulder pads and practice at a slower tempo. Considering how many injuries pop up around this time (All-Pro Chargers safety Derwin James was sidelined with a foot injury Friday) it makes sense for them to take it easy.

Saints head coach Sean Payton said that he intends to play the first-team offense more this week, having rested them after the first possession in the preseason opener. But don’t anticipate seeing much of quarterback Drew Brees, who the Saints typically keep on the shelf until the third preseason game. Backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and reserve Taysom Hill should see another near-even split in snap distribution this week.

Saints fans who prefer to listen in can do so WWL Radio (870 AM) or one of its local affiliate stations for live game coverage. Deuce McAllister and Zach Strief will call the game from the broadcast booth, with Steve Geller reporting in from the sideline. Bobby Hebert and Kristian Garic will be on hand to provide pregame, halftime, and postgame coverage.
