The Arizona Cardinals will get to be on national television early in the preseason. The team announced its preseason slate of game and they will open with two home games. The first will be against the Los Angeles Chargers and the second will be against the Oakland Raiders.
The game against the Raiders will air on ESPN as a nationally-televised contest.
They will close the preseason with road games against the Minnesota Vikings and Denver Broncos. The final game will be against the Broncos, which seems to happen every single year.
Here is what the schedule looks like
- Preseason Game 1: Chargers at Cardinals (Aug. 8-12)
- Preseason Game 2: Raiders at Cardinals, Aug. 15, 5 p.m. Arizona time
- Preseason game 3: Cardinals at Vikings (Aug. 22-25)
- Preseason Game 4: Cardinals at Broncos (Aug. 29-30)
The game against the Raiders offers some intrigue because it is very possible that Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray will be on one of the rosters. If the Raiders trade up for Murray in the draft, it would give the league a Josh Rosen vs. Kyler Murray contest.
Once the exact date for the preseason is set, we can also know when training camp can begin. If the Cardinals open on a Saturday against the Chargers, which is typical for a home preseason game, the game would fall on Aug. 10 and training camp could begin July 26. If the game is on Friday, Aug. 9, camp could kick off on the 25th.
Since the Cardinals play their second preseason game on a Thursday, they likely will open on Friday or Saturday against the Chargers.
