The New Orleans Saints are flying up to visit the New York Jets for their third preseason game on Saturday, with starting quarterback Drew Brees taking his first in-game snaps from under center. Brees has previously deferred to backups Teddy Bridgewater and Taysom Hill, so this will be the first look many Saints fans get of him before the 2019 season.
The third preseason game is typically the “dress rehearsal” for NFL teams, when they roll out their full starting lineup and take some time to plan for their opponents; Brees emphasized earlier this week that he wants his time with the offense to be sharp and efficient. He’s played as little as one series and as much as the entire first half in recent years, so there’s no way to say for sure how many snaps he’ll take this week.
