NFL power rankings: Rams still outside top 5 after crushing Giants

For just about all of this season, the Rams have been slotted inside the top 10 of power rankings across the media landscape. They’ve looked like Super Bowl contenders from the start, with their only misstep being a loss to the Cardinals in Week 4.

They’ve beaten their last two opponents, the Seahawks and Giants, pretty easily, but that still hasn’t been enough to push the Rams back into the top five of Nick Wojton’s power rankings for Touchdown Wire.

Following the Rams’ 38-11 win over the Giants, Los Angeles now ranks sixth heading into Week 7, moving up one spot from No. 7 a week ago.

The Rams did what they should have done and dominated the injury-riddled Giants in Week 6. But Los Angeles did go above and beyond a bit, scoring a season-high 38 total points on offense. Wide receiver Cooper Kupp played a big part with his two scores.

The biggest change in the top 10 this week was the Bills’ precipitous fall from No. 1 to 7, which pushed other teams in the top six up. The Cardinals are the new No. 1, followed by the Buccaneers, Ravens, Packers and Cowboys.

The Rams are still the lowest-ranked 5-1 team, but you could make the case that they’re better than each team ahead of them except the Cardinals. After all, they did beat the Buccaneers by 10 in Week 3, so they should at least be ahead of Tampa Bay.

With the Lions and Texans up next on the schedule, the Rams should be 7-1 heading into Week 9, likely pushing into the top five of most – if not all – power rankings.
