NFL power rankings: Colts approach top 5 amid free agency

The Indianapolis Colts still have plenty of moves on the docket for the offseason and even though they have been quiet in free agency, they are still near the top of the NFL power rankings.

Following a surprising 10-6 finish to the regular season and a trip to the AFC divisional round, the future for the Colts is bright. Even with a quiet free agency, the Colts checked in at No. 6 overall in Touchdown Wire’s power rankings after the start of the new league year.

In spite of having tons of money, the Colts didn’t really spend much of it. They added wide receiver Devin Funchess to help round out their wide receiver corps. But Indianapolis — a playoff team last season — seems happy to not overpay for early free agents.

The Colts have re-signed a few of their own this offseason while also bringing in wide receiver Devin Funchess as their only outside free agent signing.

There are a few visits lined up for the Colts, including running back Jay Ajayi and edge rusher Aaron Lynch, both of which are scheduled to meet with the team on Wednesday.

Even with a quiet free agency, the Colts have nine selections in the 2019 NFL Draft, which is likely going to be when they add the most depth to the roster.

The Colts find themselves in a solid position this offseason to build on a strong foundation, but these next months are crucial for how quickly they can become a serious candidate to make a deep run in the playoffs.
