NFL Playoffs futures: Updated odds for this year’s 5 most likely Super Bowl MVP candidates

I know what you’re thinking, and don’t worry. The Super Bowl is not quite here yet. But even with the AFC and NFC championship games still requiring an outcome, it’s not too early to start thinking about Super Bowl LVII.

Bettors, you might want to put some money down on those MVP futures now before the odds shorten following Eagles-49ers and Chiefs-Bills on Sunday. Only four teams remain, so we won’t go too far down BetMGM’s list of candidates. Instead, here are the sportsbook’s five players with the shortest odds of winning Super Bowl LVII MVP.

Christian McCaffrey - San Francisco 49ers (+1400)

We all know how great McCaffrey is when healthy. But he’s quietly battling a groin injury that’s forced him to miss multiple practices this week in the lead-up to Sunday’s game. Maybe the injury explains his underwhelming 10 rushes for 35 yards against the Cowboys a week ago. Whatever the case, a hobbled CMC might face a steeper uphill battle for Super Bowl MVP if the Niners can get there.

Brock Purdy - San Francisco 49ers (+700)

(Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports)

If McCaffrey isn’t the MVP of a hypothetical 49ers Super Bowl win, it’ll be because Brock Purdy was spectacular. After playing well and leading San Francisco this far into the postseason, the undrafted rookie already has the narrative behind him. And quarterbacks are often the big game’s award winners. You might to get in on those 7:1 odds now.

Joe Burrow - Cincinnati Bengals (+350)

(Gregory Fisher-USA TODAY Sports)

The Bengals are one win away from a consecutive Super Bowl appearance and two wins from their first championship in franchise history. First things first, do you believe Joe Burrow will lead his guys into and out of Arrowhead with another AFC Championship? If so, bet on him now. He’d probably become the odds-on favorite to win Super Bowl MVP at this time next week if the Bengals take down the Chiefs.

Patrick Mahomes - Kansas City Chiefs (+325)

(Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports)

I truly believe that the only thing preventing Mahomes from currently having the shortest Super Bowl MVP odds is the ankle injury he suffered last weekend in the divisional-round win over the Jaguars. But it won’t stop him from playing on Sunday. You know what he’s capable of, so don’t think twice about placing that Super Bowl MVP bet on him.

Jalen Hurts - Philadelphia Eagles (+300)

If it weren’t for the late-season shoulder injury, Jalen Hurts might have had a regular-season MVP award to look forward to. Nonetheless, a Super Bowl MVP might be even sweeter for him. He’s arguably quarterbacking the best team remaining and has the most reasonable chance at getting to the big game and winning it, so why not wager on him to take home some extra hardware?
