NFL player season opt-out details as Bengals approach training camp

Back in early July, we examined whether some Cincinnati Bengals players could choose to opt-out of the 2020 regular season.

Since then, NBA players have opted out of the season restart in Orlando and the NFL has axed all preseason games. Most recently, the NFL and NFLPA came to an agreement on a variety of terms before training camps open.

And the opt-out race is now on in earnest, as players only have so long to opt-out.

According to The Athletic’s Lindsay Jones, players have 10 days to decide if they’ll say “no thanks” on the upcoming season.

That said, it doesn’t appear in-season opt-outs are fully off the table either:

Either way, the clock now begins to tick on whether Bengals players will take a pass on the season.

The Bengals will also be greatly impacted by a big cap reduction in 2021, as well as extensive changes to the practice squad.
