An arrest warrant affidavit revealed that Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver and SMU football player were allegedly driving at nearly 120 miles per hour just moments before causing a six-car crash on a Texas highway last month. The affidavit stated that a Lamborghini Urus, believed to have been driven by the Chiefs player, was traveling at 119 mph, while the Chevrolet Corvette, allegedly driven by the SMU player, was traveling at 116 mph before the collision.
Reportedly, the Corvette had slowed to 91 mph just a second before impact. The Chiefs player, aged 23, turned himself in to the Glenn Heights Police Department and was booked into the Regional Jail in DeSoto. He is facing charges of aggravated assault, collision involving serious bodily injury, and multiple counts of collision involving injury. The SMU player, a sophomore, also turned himself in on the same charges.
Following the crash, both drivers allegedly left the scene without checking on the injured or providing their information. The affidavit mentioned that the drivers' actions put multiple lives at risk. The passengers who left the scene will reportedly not face charges. Several individuals sustained injuries in the crash, including head, neck, and back injuries. One driver suffered serious bodily injury.
The SMU player has been suspended from the football program, as confirmed by the university. Both players issued apologies, with the Chiefs player taking full responsibility for his actions and expressing cooperation with the authorities. The incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of high-speed driving and the importance of responsible behavior on the road.
