NFL owners accept proposed CBA, wait for player vote

As the NFL approaches the final year of its current collective bargaining agreement, there is hope and the possibility that a new CBA will be in place before the start of the 2020 league year. NFL owners voted on Thursday to accept a proposed CBA to send to players to approve.

The proposed CBA changes a few things. A 17-game regular season with a three-game preseason is proposed. An additional wild-card team per league would go in effect this year. The players would get an increased share of the revenue in the new deal.

As for what happens now, the proposal now goes to the NFLPA team reps for a vote. It must be approved by a two-thirds vote. If it is approved, it will then go to all the players for a vote. A simple majority will approve the deal.

The player reps are expected to vote on Friday.

It potentially could be a few days and we could be looking at least another decade of labor peace in the NFL.
