The Denver Broncos (0-4) are considered 6.5-point underdogs on the road against the Los Angeles Chargers (2-2) in Week 5, according to BetMGM. The over/under for combined points scored between the two teams has been set at 44.5 points.
Last week, the Broncos scored 24 points and the Chargers scored 30 points, a combined total of 54 points. Denver has averaged 17.5 points per game this season and Los Angeles has averaged 22.5 points per game. Combined, that’s an average of 40 points per week, 4.5 points lower than the over/under line this week.
The Broncos lead the all-time series against the Chargers 64-51-1 but Los Angeles has won two of the last three meetings between the two teams. After allowing Leonard Fournette to rush for 225 yards last week, Denver’s run defense will face another tough opponent on Sunday.
Melvin Gordon ended his holdout last week and is expected to play against the Broncos. Gordon has averaged more than 120 yards from scrimmage in six of his last seven games against AFC West opponents and he totaled 156 yards from scrimmage the last time the Chargers hosted Denver in L.A.
