NFL Networks Daniel Jeremiah believes one QB would be a great fit for the Chargers in 2019 NFL Draft

Every year we go through names of quarterbacks that may replace Philip Rivers. A guy who covers the Chargers, Daniel Jeremiah, believes that the team could find their QB this year. On a conference call, Jeremiah was asked which quarterbacks make sense after the first round for the Chargers. Here’s what he had to say:

Sure, we mentioned late in the
first round, I think you’d be in the Daniel — potentially
could be in the Daniel Jones, Drew Lock range. I don’t
know that the Chargers will be able to see either one of
those quarterbacks if he got to the second round.
In terms of — maybe an interesting name would be
Jarrett Stidham, who is going to need some time to
develop, but just in terms of a skill set, just got a big
arm. He’s a great athlete. Be able to move around a
little bit. He just needs to be a little more consistent.
He missed too many lay-ups when you watch him on
tape.
But arm strength, athleticism, by all accounts he’s a
great kid. I’ve enjoyed my interaction with him. Having
Philip in place for a couple more years, I think you
could maybe take a shot on somebody like that who
could be a developmental guy you would get in that —
to me, it’s probably more in that third-round range, but
it wouldn’t stun me if he found his way into the second
round, but I would say that third round would be more of that sweet spot for him.

Stidham would be a guy I would not be mad about. He is an underrated athlete that has a huge arm. He is far from perfect, but also has plenty of tools to work with and develop. Sitting behind Rivers would be great for him.
