NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah will not join Jets’ front office

Joe Douglas is in place as the Jets newest general manager, but New York’s search for front office help is far from over.

Douglas’ first order of business is rounding out his front office staff. Plenty of high-profile names such as ESPN’s Todd McShay and former Cleveland Browns and senior bowl executive director Phil Savage have been floated as potential candidates to join the Jets as Douglas’ right-hand man. NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah was also mentioned as a potential candidate for the job, but it looks like that will not be happening.

After Jeremiah said that he had not been contacted by New York to discuss a front office position a couple of weeks ago, he took to Twitter on Monday to reaffirm that he is comfortable in his current role and will not be joining the Jets.

Speculation about Jeremiah joining New York’s front office comes from his long-standing relationship with Douglas, as the two worked together in the Baltimore Ravens scouting department from 2003-2007. Jeremiah has also worked for the Cleveland Browns and Philadelphia Eagles, giving him plenty of NFL front office experience.

With Jeremiah no longer an option, Douglas’ search for a right-hand man will likely focus on McShay and Savage. Douglas and McShay were teammates at Richmond, where Douglas was an all-conference offensive lineman and McShay was a walk-on quarterback. Savage was formerly Douglas’ boss in Baltimore, working as the organization’s director of college scouting and president of player personnel from 1996-2004.
