The NFL is monitoring the situation in Charlotte but the plan for now is to play Sunday's game between the Carolina Panthers and Minnesota Vikings at Bank of America Stadium as scheduled.
"We are planning to play the game as scheduled on Sunday," NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said. "We are monitoring events in Charlotte and have been in communication with local officials and authorities, and both the Carolina Panthers and the Minnesota Vikings."
Panthers officials met Thursday morning to discuss security measures for Sunday's game a team spokesman said.
Moving or postponing the game is currently not on the table.
In a statement, team president Danny Morrison said, "We are in contact with government officials, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and the NFL. We are continuing to monitor events as we prepare for Sunday's home game."
The streets of uptown Charlotte were calm early Thursday following a second night of protests that turned violent in the wake of Tuesday's fatal police shooting of a black man.
