NFL Minute: Van Noy’s assessment of McVay has some truth, but not much

New England Patriots linebacker Kyle Van Noy recently made an appearance on the “Pardon My Take” podcast and commented on how the Los Angeles Rams made too few adjustments during their Super Bowl loss. Van Noy himself claimed that “they didn’t do one wrinkle”.

Despite his notions, NFL.com and NextGen Stats showed that Rams head coach Sean McVay did use more 22-personnel as the game went on, however, with little success.

Maybe that’s hyperbole on Van Noy’s part or he is enjoying pushing the recent narrative about McVay.

That narrative? The belief that McVay is somehow overrated and received too much praise too fast as a result of losing at the hands of Bill Belichick and the Patriots in the Super Bowl.

While there is some degree of truth there and with Van Noy’s assessment, Tim Benz believes that the idea that McVay is overrated as a result is extreme and that he will improve as a result of the defeat.
