What the New York Giants decide to do with their quarterback situation is arguably the most intriguing storyline to follow in the upcoming NFL draft.
In Tim Benz’s eyes, Big Blue should avoid drafting a signal-caller with the No. 6 overall selection, unless it is Ohio State’s Dwayne Haskins. The strong-armed Buckeye – in his eyes – appears to be the most bankable NFL talent on the draft boards.
However, Benz thinks that if their scouts truly believe that Oklahoma’s Kyler Murray can follow in the footsteps of Seattle Seahawks’ superstar Russell Wilson that is a fine decision, as well.
As for the rest of the crop if both are gone when the Giants pick? Benz firmly states that David Gettleman and New York should avoid reaching for the likes of Missouri’s Drew Lock, West Virginia’s Will Grier, and Duke’s Daniel Jones.
Finding an heir to Eli Manning is essential, but it has to be done right. Benz says taking the wrong QB too early could compound the Giants’ recent personnel issues by leaving better talent on the board.
