NFL Minute: Kevin Colbert’s take on Antonio Brown trade is ‘putting lipstick on a pig’

In a long post on ESPN’s website about the Antonio Brown trade, Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert had some interesting things to say.

“We were excited to get a third- and a fifth-[round pick], especially as high as those picks are in those respective rounds,” said Colbert. “As I stated, now we have four picks in the top 83, and 10 picks in the top 219, so we are picking once out of every 21 picks. So, we are in much better shape draft-wise than we were prior to that trade.”

According to Tim Benz, there is simply no way that can be true. He states the possibility of being “excited” about receiving a third- and fifth-round selection for someone with the talent and numbers of Brown are minute.

When Brown’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, killed a deal with the Buffalo Bills that would have sent Pittsburgh the No. 9 overall selection in this spring’s draft, Benz believes Colbert is simply putting lipstick on a pig.
