A lot of attention has been paid recently to the comments Los Angeles Rams running back C.J. Anderson made on Fox Sports 1 in regards to Todd Gurley’s knee injury.
On the network, Anderson stated that Gurley’s injury was worse than what people believed when the veteran first arrived in Los Angeles during Week 16.
While those words have fueled conversations over whether or not the Rams were forthcoming enough in their injury report and the doubts about the degree of his pain while the two-time All-Pro was underperforming on the field, that is not what concerns Tim Benz the most.
In his eyes, the most alerting statement made by Anderson was, “once you have a knee, you always have a knee.”
Although many may have supposed that already, the topic of the long-term severity of this injury for a player who recently signed a mega contract extension has been underplayed and is quite concerning.
Benz hopes for the Rams’ sake that the knee injury lingering forever is closer to a worst-case scenario than a reality.
