NFL Minute: Bell likely to face more loaded fronts with Gang Green

With the NFL season drawing near, many have wondered how running back Le’Veon Bell will fair as he transitions from the Pittsburgh Steelers to the New York Jets.

According to NextGen Stats, Bell faced a loaded box only 21 percent of the time since 2016. That number is the lowest mark in the NFL among qualified running backs with at least 300 rushing attempts.

Because of the likes of Ben Roethlisberger under center, as well as Antonio Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster on the outside, opposing defensive coordinators rarely were able to lock in on how the Steelers would attack them on a play-by-play basis.

Tim Benz expects that number to increase in 2019, as Gang Green does not have the same amount of offensive firepower that Pittsburgh had when Bell last played in 2017.
