NFL Medical Chief stays optimistic that NFL season will be played on schedule

Fans of the Washington Redskins and the NFL at large are hopeful that the 2020 season can go on as scheduled, should the novel coronavirus pandemic not disrupt the training camps or regular-season games that are set to take place over the coming months.

On Thursday, the NFL medical chief stated that he is feeling optimistic that this can happen, and the league as a whole will be able to move forward with the plan that has been laid out in front of them.

“I think that I personally remain very optimistic that we’re going to be able to have a 2020 season and have it along with the schedule that we’ve planned,” Andrew Sills said in an interview with the Washington Post.

Of course, having a 2020 season and having it go according to the current schedule are two incredibly different things. There is a growing belief that the NFL will be able to have each team play 16 games, and a Super Bowl Champion will eventually be crowned, but whether or not that happens on time or not is the big question. On top of that, one major unknown going forward also had to do with whether or not there will be any fans in the stadiums, which is hard to tell at the moment.

What matters at the moment, though, is that teams are able to get training camps started on time, and they can begin working towards the season. That will start on Friday when coaching staffs are able to return to team facilities and get into their offseason prep. From there, all we can do is take things one step at a time.
