NFL in London: Winning at Wembley would be something to tell the grandkids, says DeAndre Hopkins

Houston Texans star DeAndre Hopkins says winning at Wembley would be "something to tell the grandkids" as he prepares to make his first appearance in the UK.

The Texans will become the 31st of the NFL’s 32 franchises to play a regular season game in the UK when they meet the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

The first two games of this year’s London Series were held at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but last weekend’s LA Rams vs Cincinnati Bengals clash and this week’s divisional clash revert to the national stadium.

And Hopkins, considered by many to be the best wide receiver in football, says it will be an hour to play at the historic venue.

“This is a famous stadium and I think the only thing that could be better than playing in this stadium is getting the win,” Hopkins said. “That’s something that we’ll be able to tell our grandkids one day.

“I’ve heard about a lot of famous matchups happening in this stadium, so it’s an honour."

Hopkins and Ramsey are no longer rivals in the AFC South

Sunday’s game will bring something of a novelty for Hopkins in that he won’t be facing up against star cornerback Jalen Ramsey.

The two have gone head-to-head twice per season in recent years, but the Jaguars traded Ramsey to the Rams a fortnight ago. Hopkins, however, says he will still have his work cut out.

“They have good corners over there, like AJ Bouye,” Hopkins added. “I’ve been playing against him for a while, it’s a good defense over there.

“It’s NFL players going against other NFL players so it’s always going to be a competitive match-up. I’m pretty sure those guys are going to come out and play hard.”
