NFL in London: Philadelphia Eagles Wembley experience 'felt like the Super Bowl', says Wendell Smallwood

Philadelphia Eagles running back Wendell Smallwood says the London NFL experience "felt like the Super Bowl" after helping his side to a 24-18 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley.

Sunday's game was the first time that the defending Super Bowl champions have played in the UK, and drew an attendance of 85,870 - a record for an American football game held in this country.

Last week, head coach Doug Pederson had said that the Eagles would use the experience of winning that Super Bowl crown to deal with the challenges of playing on the other side of the Atlantic.

And after the win, Smallwood joined his coach in comparing the International Series fixture to the biggest game in the sport.

"All this week, it was like the Super Bowl," Smallwood told Standard Sport. "All the distractions, all the things we had going on, the extra things we had to do. It was definitely like the Super Bowl.

"It was a great vibe, a great city, we love this place. The game was pretty exciting, lots of fans came out and it was something different but we fed off the energy."
