NFL hits Von Miller and Bradley Chubb with fines for hits on Gardner Minshew

Many fans of the Jacksonville Jaguars voiced their displeasure for the low hit quarterback Gardner Minshew II took from Bradley Chubb Sunday, and it appears the NFL has taken action off the field. The second-year linebacker, who is currently on injured reserve with and ACL tear, was hit with a $21,056 fine this week, according to The Athletic’s Nicki Jhabvala.

Chubb wasn’t the only player on his team who got a letter from the league this week, as his teammate, Von Miller, also was hit with a fine for the same amount for a hit on Minshew. Meanwhile, on the Jags’ end, Yannick Ngakoue was fined the same amount for a hit on Denver Broncos quarterback Joe Flacco and linebacker Myles Jack was hit with a $10,527 for an unnecessary roughness call.

The fine Jack received isn’t his first of the year, as he was hit with a fine for the same amount for his Week 1 incident with Kansas City Chiefs receiver Demarcus Robinson earlier in the year. And while he did receive a pay raise this year, one would think he didn’t have paying the league over $20,000 in fines in mind when he signed it.

As for Ngakoue, his fine hits a little heavier as he is still playing under his rookie contract. It’s possible he’s also had to pay the Jags back some of his base salary of just over $2 million back, too, after missing multiple days of training camp and all of mandatory minicamp.
