The Jacksonville Jaguars made their first offensive signing of the free agency period Wednesday and will be bringing back veteran offensive lineman Tyler Shatley. Per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the deal was a one-year deal worth $1.51 million and guarantees $600K.
Shatley, 28, has been with the Jags since 2014 when he joined the team as an undrafted free agent from Clemson. He’s as experienced as any backup on the roster, starting in 15 games for the team while participating in 78.
Shatley’s biggest season was in 2018 when started seven games at center for Brandon Linder, who was placed on injured reserve with a knee injury. Afterward, Shatley briefly became a free agent and received interest from the Minnesota Vikings but eventually came back to the Jags on a one-year deal.
With him returning, the Jags will now have a reliable backup who can play guard and center. He’ll join Will Richardson as one of the Jags’ two most notable reserves on the offensive line.
