NFL free agency: Former Buccaneers OT visited Falcons this week

Offensive tackle is clearly the top priority for the Falcons on that side of the ball right now. Today, the team hosted first-round prospect Jawaan Taylor out of Florida. They’re also considering their options in free agency, even after signing Ty Sambrailo to a three-year extension and projecting him as a starter for 2019.

According to a report by Greg Auman at the Athletic, former Buccaneers offensive tackle Leonard Wester visited with the team on Wednesday. He’s also visiting the Jaguars today. Wester played his college football at Missouri Western State and went undrafted. He was signed by Tampa in May of 2016.

Since then, Wester has played in 27 games but has only gotten one start.

Given the state of the Bucs’ offensive line the last few seasons, the fact that he couldn’t crack their rotation doesn’t inspire a ton of confidence. If Atlanta decides to sign him, he would likely compete with Matt Gono for a third-string tackle role, assuming Atlanta adds another one in the draft.
