NFL free agency: Falcons sign former Giants guard Adam Gettis

According to a report by Jordan Raanan at ESPN, the Falcons are signing former Giants guard Adam Gettis.

Gettis was a fifth-round pick by the Redskins in the 2012 NFL draft. He hasn’t seen much playing time though, appearing in only 17 games and earning just one start in his career.

Gettis (6-foot-3, 315 pounds) will be in the mix for one of the backup spots on the roster behind projected starting guards Jamon Brown and James Carpenter. Wes Schweitzer and Brandon Fusco will be his main competition.

For the last two years, Gettis was playing for offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter in Tampa.
