NFL free agency: Cardinals sign third former Falcons defender this offseason

According to a report by Vaughn McClure at ESPN, the Cardinals have signed former Falcons defensive tackle Terrell McClain to a one-year deal.

McClain is the third former Atlanta defender Arizona has signed this offseason. They had already previously added cornerback Robert Alford and defensive end Brooks Reed.

The Cardinals will play a 3-4 defense under Vance Joseph, so most likely McClain will be competing for a backup nose tackle spot.

Whether these three work out or not probably won’t have a huge impact on where Arizona finishes in the standings. Last year, the Cards were arguably the worst team in the league, finishing last in scoring and No. 26 in points allowed. They finished 3-13, fourth place in the NFC West.

At least on paper, Arizona appears to be the weakest team Atlanta will play this year. New head coach Kliff Kingsbury and this year’s No. 1 pick Kyler Murray have their work cut out for them.
