NFL Free Agency: 5 offensive tackles Giants could target

The New York Giants could surely use some upgrades at offensive tackle this offseason. The NFL Draft offers some interesting options and you can be sure they’ll be looking to dedicate some of their $73 million of available salary cap space to at least one veteran tackle.

Here are five the Giants could put bids on come March 18.

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Anthony Castonzo, Indianapolis Colts

Castonzo probably won’t hit the market because he wants to stay in Indianapolis and there’s speculation the Colts could tag him. If they don’t and he hits the market, the Giants will be one of many teams who will throw their hat in the ring for the soon-to-be 32-year-old former Boston College star. The odds are he never gets to free agency, so let’s end the speculation now.

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Jack Conklin, Tennessee Titans

Conklin will hit the free agent market in a few weeks and expect the bids to be greater than the one his former teammate, Taylor Lewan, got two years ago and could end up becoming the highest-paid lineman in the game. The Giants will probably be interested but only of they are sure he can play left tackle. Conklin has been playing right tackle the past few seasons, plus had an ACL injury in 2018.

Bryan Bulaga, Green Bay Packers

Again, Bulaga is a right tackle at this point of his career and the Giants are really in the left tackle market. For the price they’ll have to pay Bulaga, I don’t see them bringing him in and keeping Nate Solder on the left side. He finally played a full season at age 30 in 2019, so maybe he’s getting past his injury phase.

Daryl Williams, Carolina Panthers

Williams was reportedly on the Giants’ radar last year and then re-signed with Carolina on a one-year, $7 million deal. He was coming off a knee injury and under-performed in 12 starts last season. He is a former Dave Gettleman draft pick, so expect them to at least consider Williams, but again, he’s a right tackle and the Giants may choose to go with other options.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Kelvin Beachum, New York Jets

If the Jets, a team with perhaps the biggest need at offensive line, aren’t willing to re-sign him, why would the Giants want him? The 31-year-old isn’t bad option at right tackle, but there isn’t much of difference between Beachum and any other run of the mill lineman. The Giants might be better off saving their money and either re-signing Mike Remmers or going with Nick Gates or George Asafo-Adjei.
