NFL Free Agency 2019: TE Luke Stocker is a candidate for Titans to resign

With the NFL’s free agency period looming, the Tennessee Titans have decisions to make on who to re-sign in March.

One player the team will have to make a decision on is tight end Luke Stocker. In a room with the likes of Delanie Walker, Jonnu Smith, Anthony Firkser and MyCole Pruitt, Stocker has both established and quickly rising talent to compete with.

But it’s not going to cost the Titans much if they choose to keep Stocker on the team as a reliable target for quarterback Marcus Mariota. He got the job done for the most part when injuries kept Walker and Smith on the sidelines in 2018, and is worth keeping on the roster for a third year.

The only real reason for the Titans to let Stocker go this offseason is if they want to replace the 30-year-old with a younger, fresher talent.

Stocker was effective last season, totaling 15 receptions for 165 yards, with an average of 11 yards per catch. He also accounted for two of the team’s touchdowns.

On his career, which has included two season in Tennessee, Stocker has recorded 68 receptions for 577 yards, averaging 8.5 yards per catch. Stocker totals five scores.

It’ll be interesting to see what kinds of moves the Titans make in the middle of next month, but letting Stocker walk should not be one of them.
