NFL Free Agency 2019: Could the Titans reunite with QB Ryan Fitzpatrick?

The Tennessee Titans are just one of a plethora of NFL teams that have seen quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick on the roster.

But could he be the answer again?

With the underperformance of backup quarterback Blaine Gabbert, adding Fitzpatrick back to the team might make sense — and it would certainly be an upgrade.

Fitzpatrick is seemingly always on the move, and it might be time for the Titans to snatch him up again when he hits the market again soon.

Fitzpatrick made Pro Football Focus’ list of top-50 free agents, checking in at No. 36 overall. PFF also noted that the free agent is arguably going to be the best option in the free agency period for teams that have a need at the position.

He hasn’t proven himself consistent enough to be a solid starter, but certainly had some good moments last year, and in previous seasons.

“The high level from Fitzpatrick this past season was inspired, while the low was the reason he wasn’t given a starting job anywhere the last time he was a free agent. If you need a backup to come in and win a few games when your starter gets injured, there’s probably not a better option in the league right now.”

In 2018, Fitzpatrick was 164-of-246 passes for 2,366 yards, with 17 touchdowns and 12 interceptions over eight games for the Buccaneers.

Given Marcus Mariota’s frequent injuries over recent seasons, the Titans must consider reliable options like Fitzpatrick behind him.
